More than Robots

The Avenger Robotics program loves building robots - it's why we're a team! We might be making robots, but are focus is not just on competition. Our team has a passion for people, and none more-so than the underserved communities in STEM. This year, we've sponsored two girls in STEM events, and are working to make STEM accessible to all women in our area. Our team has ran 6 VEX IQ competitions for the middle school students in Northern Georgia, with a total of 1200 matches and 11 FTC league meets, with 255 matches for the teams of Northern Georgia. We might be building robots, but we're more interested in building a community that personifies The FIRST Mindset.

COLLABORATION

Students in FIRST Robotics programs engage in collaboration with hundreds of different personalities throughout a season.

VOLUNTEERING

AvengerRobotics team members employ a community based approach to their education, serving as volunteers at any opportunity.

ADAPTIVE THINKING

Competitive robotics creates an environment that challenges student thinking both in planning, and through real time challenges.

"FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect - of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, and with a sense that they can create their own future." - Dean Kamen

Avenger Robotics was founded in Spring of 2018 through partnerships of Forsyth County Schools, the Alliance Academy for Innovation, and AutomationDirect. Avenger students participate in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).

FIRST competitions are often referred to as a "sport for the mind", and "the hardest fun you'll ever have." Students have six weeks to build a 120-pound robot to compete in a new challenge every year. Faced with limited time and resources, students develop their  best solution to the annual challenge. After the six week build season, they compete over the course of six weeks in multiple events representing the different regions of Georgia where they compete for both victory and awards.

Just like FIRST, Avenger Robotics is more than building robots. We believe in creating superhero students. Our students learn skills like programming, design, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, and public speaking. Beyond the competition field, students are involved in the community with a large range of projects from demonstrations, to supporting the middle school robotics programs of the state.
